YOUR QUESTIONS

What is Revolution?
Revolution is a medicine you apply in one spot on your dog’s or cat’s skin that treats external parasites, like fleas, as well as internal parasites, such as heartworm. What makes Revolution special is that it is the only product available that protects dogs and cats against parasites internally and externally – without pills, sprays or powders. It’s easy!

What does Revolution protect against?
Revolution treats, controls and prevents flea adults, eggs and larvae; regular use of Revolution also prevents heartworm disease in dogs and cats, treats ear mites in dogs and cats. treats and prevents sarcoptic mange in dogs and controls, hookworm and roundworm in cats.

How does Revolution work inside and out?
Once applied, Revolution enters the bloodstream through the skin. Concentrations of Revolution in the blood and intestinal tract prevent heartworm disease in dogs and cats and treat gastrointestinal parasites in cats. Revolution selectively redistributes from the blood to sebaceous glands, which are found below the skin’s surface. Revolutions’ presence in the sebaceous glands and in the skin is the reservoir of drug that provides protection against fleas, flea eggs and mites.

Is Revolution safe for my pet?
Revolution has an excellent safety profile. It can be used in puppies and kittens as young as 6 weeks of age, in breeding male and female dogs and cats and in pregnant and nursing dogs and cats. Revolution can also be used in avermectin-sensitive collies and heartworm positive dogs and cats. More than 12,000 doses were administered to 4,500 dogs and cats during 6 years of clinical trials.

What are the most common side effects?
Revolution is well-tolerated. Less than 1% of cats experienced temporary hair loss at the application site, which appears to be due to overgrooming.

How is Revolution applied?
Remove the Revolution tube from its protective package. Holding the tube upright, firmly depress the cap to puncture the applicator seal, then remove the cap. Part the hair on the back at the base of the neck, in front of the shoulder blades, until the skin is visible.
Apply the tip of the Revolution tube directly to the skin without massaging. Squeeze the tube firmly to empty the contents in one spot.

How is Revolution different from other products?
Revolution is the first and only topically applied heartworm medication for dogs and cats. Revolution is topically applied in one spot.

Revolution is low volume, non greasy and quick-drying so you can play with your pet as soon as it dries, usually within 15 minutes after treatment. Other topicals only treat external parasites like fleas and may require more product volume, and leave a greasy residue.

Revolution is supplied in child-resistant packaging1.

Did you know only 5% of fleas live on your dog or cat?
You may be surprised to learn that only 5% of fleas are found on your dog or cat. The other 95% – eggs, larvae and pupae, can be found in the immediate environment. Such as your home or garden. Unfortunately, this results in a constant source of re-infestation throughout the year.

Revolution is the only spot-on that treats infestations on the pet and in the environment by killing three stages of the flea. Go to: How to Control Flea Infestations

To effectively control fleas all year round, you need a treatment that kills adult fleas on your pet PLUS their eggs and developing larvae in the environment.

Can a scratching dog or cat mean more than just fleas?
An itchy cat or dog does not necessarily mean a flea problem is present. A pet that is scratching at its ears could have ear mites. These tiny parasites live in the ear canal, cause irritation and a black wax-like discharge.

Other mites, like Sarcoptes, can burrow into your dog’s skin, causing intense itching and scratching. But your dog need not suffer from these irritating skin conditions, as they can easily be controlled with Revolution.
